Launched earlier this year, the New Balance 9060 silhouette has already seen a handful of creative adaptations but nothing like the dedicated track by Saudi rapper Amy Roko and Bahraini artist Flipperachi that dropped this week.
Titled “9060”, the song draws a parallel between the trend-setting effect of the New Balance model on the sneaker scene and the growth of Hip-Hop in the Middle East. With Flipperachi’s creative lyricism and Amy Roko’s unrivaled musical energy, “9060” serves as a paradigm of the playful rap music coming out of the region.
As part of the brand’s ongoing partnership with digital music distributor Anghami, the new track will be showcased in New Balance’s second takeover on the streaming platform. It will feature amongst a playlist of Middle Eastern talent, as the sneaker brand continues to bring a spotlight to emerging artists and producers.
Alongside the release of “9060”, New Balance introduces two new colorways of the respective model. The first – as seen on Amy Roko – comes in shades of light pink and nude brown with a light blue extended N logo that emphasizes the early noughties tech influences on the model. Donned by Flipperachi, the second iteration is coated in a versatile dark brown. Its sublime all-over coloring that runs from the diamond shaped outsole to the laces adds to the chunky and exaggerated proportions of the New Balance 9060.
