ASICS on Monday launched the GEL-NIMBUS 25, an all-new footwear silhouette that the brand is calling its “most comfortable running shoe yet.”
Built with new PureGEL technology and 20% more FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning, the shoe was rated No. 1 in comfort by runners in an independent test by The Biomechanics Lab in South Australia. Offering softer landings, the GEL-NIMBUS 25 strategically integrates the PureGEL technology into its midsole for enhanced shock absorption and smoother transitions. Additionally, the silhouette’s breathable, stretchy knit tongue provides an easy step-in and an adaptive fit.
“Following ASICS design philosophy, we use athlete wear testing, biomechanical research, sustainable methods and decades of craftsmanship to create products that feel best for both body and mind,” said Laura Bolgen, Senior Manager Global Product Line, Performance Running Footwear at ASICS. “We knew that our ambitious goal of ‘creating the most comfortable running shoe’ was one that would require even more design and development work as well as internal and external testing and consumer validation.”
To assess the shoe’s comfort, Dr. Chris Bishop Ph.D. from The Biomechanics Lab conducted an independent study that put the GEL-NIMBUS 25 against three leading competitor shoes and its predecessor, the GEL-NIMBUS 24.
100 runners (52 men, 48 women) took place in the study, during which they tested an unrecognizable version of each shoe over an eight-week period. Participants were asked to run on a treadmill at a pace of 10km/hr for three minutes and assess each shoe’s comfort levels based on their heel cushioning, forefoot cushioning, shoe stability and forefoot flexibility. The lab’s independent statistical analysis showed that the GEL-NIMBUS 25 ranked No. 1 in comfort.
ASICS’ GEL-NIMBUS 25 will be available in stores and on the brand’s website beginning February 1 for £165 GBP. Take a look at the silhouette in the gallery above.
