Since 2004, Nike has teamed up with OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital with the Doernbecher Freestyle initiative. Every year, Nike Employee Design volunteers collaborate with a select few OHSU Doernbecher patients to craft motivational designs in footwear, apparel and equipment. These creations are auctioned off for fundraising purposes, and later offered to the public in limited quantities. In October of last year, the Doernbecher Freestyle XVIII Collection for 2023 was revealed, starring six talented designers and their six sneakers paired with matching apparel.
This year’s six superstars include Riddhi Mahajan, Emerson Harrell, Coley Miller, Dario Villaseñor Valdivia, Kylee Young and Jaren Heacock who have shared their journeys and passions with each design, as described in our initial coverage. Now, as Nike gears up for the retail debut of each sneaker, a detailed breakdown of each design has been shared, featuring the Air Jordan 1 Low, Air Max 90, Air Foamposite One, Air Huarache, Air Presto and the Zoom Vomero 5.
Expect pairs to land on shelves this spring as Nike celebrates its latest cohort of Doernbecher patients with releases of all six sneakers alongside complementary apparel. Prices for the footwear are expected to range from $100 USD to $230 USD.
Stay tuned for official release information and for more in the world of footwear, Nike is honoring the late Frank Rudy — the mastermind behind Air technology — with an Air Max TW colorway.
