The Broken Arm is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2022, and as part of the festivities they’ve teamed back up with longtime partner Salomon to re-release 2021’s X-DESALPES collaboration. The influential Parisian boutique and the French outdoor brand have a rich history: well before Salomon shoes were a street style staple in the world’s fashion capitals they were a key piece of The Broken Arm’s offerings, starting with a Snowcross in 2015, and producing fresh takes on the Wings Pro 2, XT-4, XT-Quest 2 and several other models since then.
Though the X-DESAPLES is one of the more recent models in the two’s collaborative lineage, it’s also one of the most popular — hence it being tapped for an anniversary bringback. It features a rich two-tone blue color scheme, with a dark, oceanic blue covering the majority of the upper while a lighter sky blue serves up contrast on the overlay. There’s also a healthy dose of brown on the collar and tongue, while the palette is grounded by black midsoles and rubber toe caps.
There are also plenty of special details to be seen that spotlight the collab’s inspiration: the Désalpe (Alpine Descent in English), an autumn festival where cattle that have been grazing in the Swiss Alps all summer return to their villages. The cherished festival is acknowledged with an embroidered edelweiss flower on the tongue, while the bottom eyestays and heel tabs alike nod to the fir wreaths the cows are adorned with for the festival. A GORE-TEX liner plus Salomon’s signature EDGING Chassis and Contagrip systems complete the offering by ensuring that the looks aren’t the only part of the collaboration that’s mountainous.
If you’re looking to get your hands on a pair of The Broken Arm x Salomon X-DESALPES, it’ll release via The Broken Arm’s webstore on December 1. The MSRP is set at a tax-included $197.22.
